This year, the Port will be transformed into a festive playground, kicking off with a bold and adventurous Fringe season, and including everything from street parties, ghost tours and risqué rope art to Celtic storytelling, floating burlesque and old-fashioned boot scootin’.

Pirate Life Brewing is turning five years old. So it’s time to party! We’ve been brewing up a storm and will release 12 limited edition beers. Port Adelaide Ghost Crime Tour
Do you know that one of the oldest suburbs in Adelaide was home to countless crimes, murders and ghost sightings? Like the heard moaning and groaning soul of a Chinese man, who was found floating in the Port River, head wrapped in a hessian sack with three nails driven into his skull; or sight an old Madam’s ghost at the Port Dock Brewery, who was believed to be from the building when it was still a brothel in the 1920s. We’ll visit the hair-raising walls of Port Admiral Hotel which is rumoured to be haunted by an old schoolmaster who committed suicide in one of its bedrooms.

Wonderwalls Port Adelaide
Wonderwalls Port Adelaide will be showcasing some of the world’s best street artists like Pichiavo, Vesod, Rosie Woods and Demski 333 on large-scale walls live from 6–8 March 2020 in the Port CBD. This year will be the first time Wonderwalls adopts the addition of projection mapping and animation bringing new and existing artworks to life through AR/VR content. The night will come alive and engage the night like never before. We are opening with a party on Friday 6 March at Pirate Life Brewery from 6pm–11pm followed by a weekend of photographic and walking tours where you will witness the artists in action. The festival hub will include local food and drinks combined with live art and entertainment.

Brought to you by the people behind the award-winning exhibitions RUST, SALT, TAR, SMOKE, KNOT, GRIT, GRAIN and BRIDGE, we will explore and interpret to the best of our capabilities the word VESSEL. 35+ contemporary artists (ranging from those who show at the local to those who have shown at the Louvre) get together once a year to celebrate a Port-centic word, in glass, string, paintings, water, photographs, sounds, ceramics and more. Formed from any material, is it the empty space within that makes it useful? Does it make the loudest noise, allow blood to flow, ply the sea, hold all knowledge?

A multimedia warehouse installation using data sonification and digital projection. It features sacred geometry and an icosahedron in particular; a geometric structure that symbolises water. Ancient cultures saw these forms in nature as reflections (and the symmetry) of the greater heavenly realms. Free daily.

Outside Light
On the back of a series of successful screenings in Europe, North America and Austrian television, ‘Outside Light’ is back in Adelaide for the third season. Join Adelaide poet and film-maker Mark Niehus for an intimate outdoor laneway screening of a collection of his independent poetry films. This diverse collection of films explores the friction between ideals and feelings of incompatibility with the status quo, digital privacy, domestic violence, integrity and individuality. From ‘We Are The Device’ a glimpse into a future where shifting privacy standards have gone unchecked to ‘Shiver’, a woman reflecting on her triumph over childhood domestic violence. Hosted by Mixed Creative, this former casualty hospital in Port Adelaide offers a unique Fringe venue experience.
