Rupture

Twine Projects is set to construct a large-scale slingshot in Dock 1, Port Adelaide and launch paint-filled latex balloons against a large canvas which will be stretched and attached horizontally to a shipping container.

The balloons will be launched not only by the artists of Twine Projects, but also by members of the Port Adelaide community and all those attending the event.

Join them on Saturday, 1 March 2014 from 11 am to 3 pm.

The resulting mosaic of splash patterns will subsequently be cut into a number of smaller segments, individually stretched and framed for exhibition by Jacob Logos at the Black Diamond Gallery in Port Adelaide.

The entire event will be photographed by Amber Haines with a professional high-speed camera aiming to capture the precise moment of impact/rupture. These images will be presented alongside the canvases in the Black Diamond Gallery exhibition.

Video cameras will also be employed to record the event, after which, the images stored on the medium will have the capacity be played back in slow-motion. This footage will be edited and used to create a five-minute video which will be uploaded onto YouTube and Vimeo, as well as being played as part of the Black Diamond Gallery exhibition and on the City of Port Adelaide Enfield website.

This project represent the second major commission for Twine Projects, following a hugely successful event at Jacobs Creek for their SALA celebrations in 2013.

Join us on the day as we create history and create art, together in Port Adelaide. There will be food vans and coffee carts on the day to keep everyone fuelled up!

Throwing your support behind this project will ensure its success and enable hundreds of Port Adelaideans the chance to contribute their own RUPTURE to the giant art work.

The Unexpected Port initiative is a partnership between the state government’s Arts SA, Renewal SA and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield.
