Port Plaza redevelopment

Stage One of the $45 million redevelopment of the Port Canal Shopping Centre is due for completion April 2019.

The Centre will be renamed Port Adelaide Plaza, seeing the rebuilding and extension of the existing Port Canal shopping centre. Expanding from 19,000 square metres to over 29,394 square metres with an end value of $133 million, makes it the most significant retail development of its kind in the local area in 40 years.

Port Adelaide Plaza will be a destination and landmark precinct for people living in the north-western suburbs of Adelaide. The redevelopment of the Centre will have a significant impact on the local economy, creating 120 jobs during construction jobs and a further 160 full time retail jobs – or almost 300 jobs in total.

Stage One of the redevelopment will provide a contemporary dining precinct with a focus towards café culture, burger concepts, Japanese and Asian fusion. Set under wide awnings, featuring alfresco ceiling fans and gas heating within close proximity to the water.

The finished centre will offer over 60+ specialty stores including restaurants and cafes, services such as Australia Post, a medical centre, gym, childcare centre, and a brand new Aldi will open alongside existing retailers Coles, Kmart, Liquorland and Kmart Tyre & Auto.

The Precision Group has been working closely with council to develop nearby streetscapes, including a significant upgrade to Church Street, to improve customer safety and pedestrian access from Dale Street. Alternative and convenient car parking will be provided throughout the redevelopment, with increased car park capacity expecting to total over 1,000 car parks available to the Centre’s customers upon the projects’ completion.
