Walls of wonder

It would be hard not to have noticed some of the bright and colourful murals that appeared around Our Port towards the end of January. These are the masterpieces of ‘Wonderwalls’ — a three-day street art festival, held 23–25 January, featuring over 20 local, national and international artists.

Over 5,000 people visited over the long weekend to see 22 vibrant and unique murals being painted.

The festival kicked off with a launch party in the newly refitted Flour Shed, showcasing a new mural painted as part of the festival by international artist, Guido Van Helten with

food trucks lining Mundy Street and drinks provided by local boutique brewery, Port Dock Brewery Hotel. Festivities continued over the weekend with artist talks, photo tours, a Saturday night laneway party (where Adelaide-born artist, Smug One treated guests to some live painting) and a forum with some of the festival presenters, The Hours.

Wonderwalls Port Adelaide was presented by Renewal SA and The Hours in conjunction with City of Port Adelaide Enfield and Ironlak.
