Renewal SA Works Program: NorthHub Aboriginal Pre-employment Program

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people persons living in Adelaide’s north-western suburbs are encouraged to apply for the NorthHub Aboriginal Pre-employment program to gain training, work experience and employment opportunities in the construction industry.

Applicants will need to have a reasonable level of fitness and an interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry.

About the program

Program participants will benefit from the hands-on experience of working on a live training site and can achieve the following qualifications:

  • Skills in preparing for study and employment (life skills)
  • Certificate II in Civil Construction [RII20715]
  • White Card – Work Safely in the Construction Industry [CPCCOHS1001A]
  • Carry out concrete work [RIICCM209D]

Mentoring support is provided throughout the program and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to all participants.

Successful participants will also have the opportunity to undertake two weeks work experience on completion of the program, with the potential for job opportunities with Lendlease or one of their industry partners that includes post-placement mentoring support for up to three months.

This program is supported by the Government of South Australia through the WorkReady initiative.

Where and when

The training program starts on Monday 3 April 2017 and runs for 10 weeks including a two-week work experience placement.

Participants will be required to attend training 8.00am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, at the Port Adelaide Live Training Site, Lot 119 Ocean Steamers Road, Port Adelaide.

Successful candidates will be invited to be part of the program after attending an information session and pre-screening.
