Train Station Plaza upgrade

The Port Adelaide train station plaza had a “place lift” thanks to the Renewal SA Works training program. Works included the removal of tubular fencing, levelling of the open area around the pillars, paving the main walkways and landscaping along the interface with Commercial Road.

A total of 13 local participants took part in the training program. They started in the classroom before moving to the construction training stage on-site. Participants earned their Certificate II in Civil Construction at the completion of the 10 week program.

The plaza live training site was delivered by Renewal SA in partnership with Carey Training and Skills for All.

We have worked with Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure on the planning of these works and also the repainting the historic arches over Commercial Road to complete the restoration of this space. The painting of the arches commenced in June 2015.
